[ENG] I Died Protecting My Comrades and Was Reborn Twenty Years Later in the Same World... But This Is My Second Reincarnation? Volume 1 Chapter 5

Chapter 5: A True Reunion with Those from the Past

The Memory Cube glowed, resurrecting memories that were unmistakably mine.

Not the current me, but the memories of my past life as Miracle Towa… Naturally, Selen and Lilith stood beside me, faces etched with disbelief, staring at the projected images, speechless.

As if guiding us, the first scene showed the old me with Lilith and Selen, but then it shifted further back—to the moment I bolted from home.

Ugh, I’m done with this… but being the third son worked out, huh. No regrets, no ties to that place… feels a bit complicated, but I’ll get over it quick.”

Didn’t care what came next, as long as I got out.

That’s how I left the Mistel family behind. The me in the memory sprinted off, face lit with a refreshing freedom, brimming with anticipation for what lay ahead.

“This is… Towa-san’s beginning, isn’t it?”

“No idea what’s happening… but I can’t look away… Towa’s right there.”

Still beside me, Lilith and Selen were glued to the scene.

Sure, I had my own anxieties about what came next, but I couldn’t tear my eyes from the memories either.

The memory didn’t linger, though—it raced forward like a highlight reel, not tracing my life step by step.

Right after leaving home, the scene jumped to my meeting with Arios and Lilina.

“Hey, you there.”

“What?”

“I’m making you our pack mule. Be honored.”

“…Huh?”

“Hold on, explain properly. Sorry about him.”

That’s how it went with Arios and Lilina.

I was thrown for a loop, but since I’d already been reborn in this world, joining them to take down the Demon King didn’t sound half bad. So I tagged along.

It started that simply, but even back then, I had the power to work miracles. Looking back, I felt it was my chance to use it for the world, for others.

“Hey, Arios.”

“What?”

“You’re a damn fine hero. So quit chasing skirts all the time.”

“What’s that? A nobody like you telling me what to do?”

“Damn right I am. You’re not some decorative hero—you’re strong, good-looking, the real deal. You’re destined to take down the Demon King and go down as a legend. That’s the path you’re promised, so don’t go lowering your own worth.”

“…Why the hell do you talk about me like that?”

“‘Cause we’re comrades. What other reason do I need?”

“…Fair enough.”

Yeah, had that talk with Arios too.

Taking down the Demon King hinged on his power as the hero, so I was always thinking about how to light a fire under him.

Being in my second life, even though Arios and I were the same age, I looked at him like a younger brother sometimes… guess that’s why I talked to him like that.

“So really Towa-san, huh…”

“I’d have decked him for that, no question.”

Wonder what Lilith and Selen are feeling, watching this.

They’re so absorbed in the images, they’ve forgotten I’m here… forgotten anyone else is around at all.

Not that I’m any different—my focus is slipping, pulled deeper into the memories.

“Gods, he’s such a handful… babysitting a guy like that…”

“You’re doing great, Lilina.”

“Don’t act like you get it. That guy is a hero… ugh, it’s exhausting.”

The scene shifted from Arios to Lilina.

Back then, Lilina hadn’t opened up to Arios—or me, for that matter.

Her sense of duty drove her, and her struggles were immense. But I saw her a bit like a younger sister too, and with her being a stunning beauty, I just wanted to see her smile.

“Listen, Towa! Arios was playing with some kids today. He bragged about ‘humoring them,’ but that smile? Totally genuine! What’s with him, showing off like that sometimes?”

Lilina watched Arios change over the course of our journey.

She started out hating his guts, but seeing her soften made me think she had a bit of a soft spot—a “cho-roine,” if you will. Still, since it was Arios, her reactions were kinda endearing.

“Hero and princess falling for each other? Classic. Makes me feel really good watching it.”

“L-Love!? Me and Arios aren’t… ugh!”

“Chill, I get it. I’ll cheer you on from here, so go for it.”

“You’re the only one who’d talk to a princess like that…”

Talking so casually to a princess could’ve landed me in hot water for disrespect, but—

Selen and Lilith’s murmurs pulled me back, their voices heavy with emotion.

The memories kept rolling, now showing my first meeting with Selen.

“Hey, don’t go thinking you’re all that just ‘cause you’re some elf mage.”

“What did you say?”

“You heard me. You’re damn skilled, sure, but you’re also stubborn as hell and a bit of a prankster. Still, as a comrade, your good outweighs the bad… just barely.”

“Hey! Say that with some confidence!”

Talking like that, we got to know each other better.

Never thought I’d get along with Selen at first, but soon enough, we were trading jabs like old friends.

We’d hang out, I’d poke my nose into her research—it became a thing.

“Hey, Towa… even after the journey’s over, we’ll still talk like this, right?”

“What’s with the sudden question? Obviously. And just so you know, I’m already planning our future. No one’s dying on this journey or in the fight with the Demon King—not me, not you, not anyone. We’re all gonna live, laugh, and build that future together.”

“Towa… yeah, you’re right. None of us will fall… no way it’ll come to that.”

Yeah… had that conversation too.

Turned out to be a death flag, though…

“Nostalgic… really nostalgic… Towa…!”

Selen crumpled beside me, but the images didn’t stop.

Following the order of our meetings, the memory shifted to Lilith, the last to join us.

“Whoa! A succubus!?”

“You’re…”

My meeting with Lilith was… unconventional.

Mid-journey, I tripped some weird trap, summoning a Cerberus, the hellhound.

I was alone, low on mana, and didn’t trust my miracle power to save me. Running like a coward, I literally bumped into Lilith.

“Succubus…? Doesn’t matter if you’re a succubus or whatever—if there’s someone here, I’m not running. If I can make miracles happen, then even bone-dry like this, I’ll show you a damn miracle!!”

“Miracle power…?”

With a confused Lilith behind me, the memory-me activated it.

Squeezing out every drop of mana left, my miracle power wasn’t some named spell—it just pulled off whatever I wished for.

Blinding light swallowed the Cerberus, wiping it out.

Man… I was really giving it my all back then, desperate to keep Lilith—whose name I didn’t even know yet—safe.

“Phew, made it. You okay, succubus lady?”

“Y-Yes… thank you.”

“No biggie. My screw-up, but glad I kept you safe.”

That moment, I’ll admit, I was trying to look a bit cool.

I was used to Selen and Lilina’s beauty, but Lilith? Her raw, sultry charm was on another level.

“You’re… really okay?”

“Huh? With what?”

“I… my charm is stronger than most succubi. You’re a normal human… you really feel nothing?”

“Oh… nah, nothing. Maybe my miracle power’s why, more than some resistance.”

Lilith’s charm was potent, she said, but it didn’t touch me.

Apparently, her charm affected everyone she met, whether she wanted it to or not. Learning I was the first guy—and that even women fell for her, making real conversation rare for years—blew my mind.

“Could I… join your hero party? The joy of talking to someone normally… I don’t want to lose that.”

Her words sealed it—she became one of us.

And it wasn’t just that her charm didn’t work on me. When I was around, it didn’t affect anyone else either, which seemed to solidify her resolve to stick with us.

“Hope I’m not a bother, Towa-san.”

“Not at all. Getting to walk with a beauty like you? It’s an honor.”

With Selen and Lilina’s help, we started training to control her charm, but until she got the hang of it, I stayed by her side.

Lilith, who’d never had a normal life, wanted to do things—simple things—and I didn’t mind helping. Hell, if just being there made her smile, why wouldn’t I?

“Your charm doesn’t work on me, but I still think you’re a hell of a woman—and yeah, damn sexy. Feeling that without your charm? That just means your natural allure’s off the charts.”

“Womanizer.”

“Hey, I’m just saying what I think!”

Selen’s half-lidded glare made me scramble, but Lilith watched us with a delighted grin.

“Oh… I wanna go back to those days… Towa-san…!”

Like Selen, Lilith collapsed, overcome.

The memories kept playing, but the broken Memory Cube started glitching. The timeline scrambled, static buzzing, and the scene jumped to after the Demon King’s defeat.

“Guess this is it… see ya, everyone.”

Bloodied and lying on the ground, the old me spoke my final words to everyone, thinking that was the end… but the footage didn’t stop. It showed the defining moment of my life.

“Get rid of it already.”

“I know, I know. If you’re gonna hold a grudge, blame yourself for being born to us.”

The scene of my real parents abandoning me—the current me.

Lilith and Selen stopped crying, eyes wide with disbelief, locked on the projection.

The glitching footage shifted to me cradled in Mom’s arms.

“Alright, from today, you’re Towa.”

My new beginning with Mom was the last thing shown before the Memory Cube broke for good, snapping us back from the memory journey.

▼▽

“…We’re back?”

“Looks like it… the Memory Cube’s completely dead.”

We were back in Selen’s room, no longer in the memory’s grip.

The cube in my hand had gone silent, and naturally, Lilith and Selen’s gazes slowly turned to me.

Stared at by both, I had no idea what to say.

No room for jokes in this heavy air, and even starting with a laugh felt impossible.

“…I’m—”

I tried to squeeze out words, but before I could, their overwhelming strength—far too much for a kid’s body—knocked me flat.

“Towa-san… what’s going on?”

“Towa… is it really you?”

Their voices trembled, a mix of disbelief and desperate hope, and I nodded.

“…Sorry for keeping quiet. Yeah—it’s me, Towa Mistel… the guy who traveled with you all.”

“Oh… oh…!”

“This… this can’t be…!”

Revealing my true self, my heart was strangely calm.

Would they believe me? Would they scorn me for joking? Would they judge my actions? Those fears should’ve been there, but my mind was at peace.

“Towa-san… Towa-san!!”

“Towa… Towa!!”

For a while, I just stroked their heads as they sobbed.

It took a long time for them to calm down, and even after, their red-rimmed eyes stayed glued to me, never pulling away.

Being held tightly from both sides was like before, but the strength and warmth of their embrace were on a whole new level. I waited for them to settle, and finally, we could talk.

“I was shocked, but the Memory Cube proved it. You’re definitely Towa-san… our Towa-san from the journey.”

“Those memories don’t lie. You’re Towa… our Towa, no question.”

To their renewed questions, I nodded again.

“Uh… mind if I explain a bit?”

“Please.”

“Go ahead.”

Seems they’d fully accepted I’m Towa.

Their gazes weren’t those for a kid anymore—they were the same ones they gave the old me.

“I died protecting everyone… but when I came to, I was reborn in this body. At first, I couldn’t believe it, but Mom named me Towa… that’s when I knew I was reborn in the same world.”

“I believe you.”

“No doubts here.”

“…I know it’s weird coming from me, but shouldn’t you at least question it a bit?”

They both shook their heads firmly.

Before I could ask why they were so sure, Lilith pulled me into a tight hug.

Even knowing who I am, her boob-hug still had that irresistible magic.

“There’s nothing to doubt. I finally understand why I felt the way I did around you.”

“The feeling…?”

What’s that supposed to mean?

As I puzzled over it, Selen yanked me into her arms next.

“That feeling we got from you. We kept saying… you’re too much like Towa, way too similar… that it couldn’t be possible. That’s what we felt.”

True, they both mentioned that.

Still, it’s almost too easy—like, even with the Memory Cube’s freakout, I didn’t expect our reunion to go this smoothly.

“Selen-san, that’s not fair. Let me feel Towa-san more too.”

“…Fine.”

Selen let go reluctantly, only for Lilith to envelop me again, her overwhelming chest pressing against my face.

“Kukuku, ain’t this the life? Sure, things might get rough, but just roll with it. Running from this kinda bliss? That’d be a damn waste.”

“No way! We gotta talk this out properly! Don’t let a woman’s boobs win!”

Yeah, I’d lose to that… but he’s right. Gotta talk this through.

Thanks, inner angel. No matter how heavenly this feels, what we need right now is to hash things out.

“Guh… ngh!!”

“Oh♪ Towa, you really want something naughty?”

“No, that’s not it!!”

“Your breath’s so intense… ah♪”

Please, just let me talk! I’m begging you!!

Even with their sultry voices, they held on tight, refusing to let go. With steely resolve, I broke free from Selen’s embrace.

“My turn next—”

“Hold it!”

Lilith lunged for another hug, but I thrust out a palm to stop her.

“…Whine.”

“Don’t give me that puppy whimper…”

What’s with the whine? Almost reached to pat her head on reflex.

Facing a teary-eyed Lilith and a pouting Selen, I sat at one of the chairs around the table to get this talk on track.

“Lilith, Selen. I wanna talk properly first.”

“Got it!”

“Alright.”

But where to start…?

They sat across from me, staring so intensely it felt like they’d burn holes through me. Their hands twitched, like they’d grab me the second I let my guard down.

“…Phew.”

Took a deep breath to steady myself and started talking slowly.

“First off, I’m Towa Mistel, no question. Lilith, Selen, Arios, Lilina… all those memories with you guys are still crystal clear.”

“Yes…”

“Yeah…”

“Reincarnation… that the right word? After I died protecting you all in the Demon King fight, I was reborn in this body. I said that already, but yeah, I came back to this world… even if I look a bit different.”

Flashed a grin, flexing my arms, striking a muscle pose, pulling a silly face—anything to prove it’s me.

Finally, they both gave gentle smiles, and the heavy air started to lighten.

“I was reborn as the current me ten years ago, after the old me died. So, twenty years total… it’s been twenty years since we last saw each other.”

“It’s been a long twenty years…”

“Our lifespans are long… but after you were gone, everything felt frozen.”

They both looked down.

I thought protecting everyone and securing a peaceful world meant they’d all be living it up, happy.

But from our talks, I knew—Lilith and Selen had been grieving for me, carrying that sadness all this time.

“Why…?”

“Huh?”

Selen looked up, voice shaking.

“Why didn’t you come find us sooner… you idiot!”

“…Sorry.”

Her tearful words left me with nothing but an apology.

As Selen lowered her face, crying, Lilith leaned closer, picking up where she left off.

“Our positions… and, well… claiming you’re reincarnated? No one would believe that. That’s what you thought, right?”

“Exactly… I mean, it’s crazy, right?”

“True… reincarnation’s just a fairy tale to us. In all my years, I’ve never seen a case like it.”

“It’s not just your positions—meeting you guys wasn’t gonna be easy. If I’d said I was reincarnated and you thought I was messing around… you know how that’d go. Miraculously, we met, and you accepted me, but still.”

“You’re right. If someone else claimed to be your reincarnation, who knows what I’d do. As for Selen-san, she might’ve blasted them to ashes on the spot.”

See? Told you…

Sure, how I break the news matters, but I can really picture getting blasted to ashes for joking around… and if that killed me, what’s the point of coming back?

“No way I’d do that to Towa! I’d only fry some idiot who wasn’t you!”

“If Towa-san said that without us knowing it was him, that’s the scenario.”

“Even then, I’d never do it. I’d know it was Towa just by looking at him!”

“…Guess that makes sense.”

“Hey, you’re buying that!?”

Couldn’t help but throw in a quip, but Lilith nodded with total confidence.

Selen’s the same—how are they so sure? As if reading my mind, Lilith kept going.

“Because we know. Hey, Towa-san? Now that we’re sure, don’t you think it’s weird? We only met you days ago… but how fast we opened up to you? That’s not normal.”

“You’re right… I did think that. Even if I’m a kid and kinda like the old me, it was way too quick.”

“Let me explain.”

Explain…?

Can you even explain something like that?

Lilith’s expression turned dead serious, and Selen wiped her tears, her face tightening too.

What’s this… some huge truth between us?

“We know a phenomenon that makes us so certain. Or rather, Selen-san and I are experiencing it right now.”

“What’s that?”

Swallowed hard, waiting for Lilith’s words.

She exchanged a nod with Selen and spoke of the phenomenon.

“It’s called Bright of Engage, and it’s happening to both Selen-san and me.”

Bright… what now?”

Bright of Engage.”

Bright of Engage…”

First time hearing it, I was stunned, but I figured I’d better focus on their explanation instead of interrupting.

Looks like Lilith’s taking the lead, while Selen, arms crossed under her chest, eyes closed, settled into listening.

Bright of Engage only happens to certain races. Humans don’t know it, so you wouldn’t have heard of it, Towa-san.”

“Yeah… first I’m hearing of it.”

“Right. So, the races it affects are three—succubi, elves, and vampires.”

“…Got it.”

Succubi, elves, vampires… huh.

Is this some weird disease or something?

…No, bad move.

Instead of letting my mind run wild, I need to hear Lilith out.

Bright of Engage is, simply put, a phenomenon where you meet your fated partner and tie your entire being to them.”

“Fated partner… tie?”

“To put it plainly, you fall hard for them. Your instincts crave them, and you can’t love anyone else.”

Got it… like love at first sight.

Well, sounds way more intense than that… and then it hit me.

If Bright of Engage is happening to Lilith and Selen, and they’re telling me this now… does that mean what I think it does?

They must’ve caught my realization, because both nodded like it was obvious.

Bright of Engage has triggered in Selen-san and me for you, Towa-san.”

“Get it now? Lilith and I are head over heels for you… we’re wrecked without you.”

They’re… in love with me?

Hard to believe, but their words dragged up memory after memory—every conversation, every moment we spent together, flooding back like a tidal wave.

Overwhelmed by the memories and this bombshell, I zoned out hard. Snapped back only when Lilith squeezed my hand.

“…!”

“You okay?”

“Y-Yeah…”

“Um… I’ll keep going, alright?”

“…Please.”

Lilith, still holding my hand, blushed, and it made my cheeks heat up too… Even Selen, of all people, was blushing, her gaze soft and warm.

“You were the first person to look at me—really look at me. Maybe your miracle power blocked my charm, but because of you, I learned the joy of connecting with others.”

Like the Memory Cube showed, Lilith couldn’t interact normally.

Her uncontrollable charm tormented her, but somehow, being near me suppressed it.

“You never made a face, not once. You stayed with me, showed me what ‘normal’ is, how to live with others… everything you taught me was so new, and I loved learning it through you, Towa-san.”

“…I just did what I could.”

“Even so. Every time I saw your smile, my heart raced. And one day, I realized I loved you with all my heart… that’s when Bright of Engage triggered.”

Lilith paused, and Selen took over.

“Towa, you were a mystery to me. I just wanted to study your miracle power… I was harsh, but you always treated me so honestly.”

Yeah, I remember, a small smile slipping out.

Selen saw me more like a lab rat than a person at first… but I wanted to know her better. She was a comrade, and I didn’t want her to feel alone.

“Didn’t think keeping my distance was right, even if you were hard to approach. Sure, you saw me as a test subject, but I could tell you enjoyed our little talks. Plus, I loved hearing you geek out about magic.”

“Exactly… you were like that. Everyone else ran from me, but you accepted me. I only cared about research, but the more we talked, the more I knew you… I wanted to do things beyond research. I fell in love with you, Towa, the person.”

Lilith, and now Selen too…

First time since Mom anyone’s been this upfront about loving me. Mom’s always saying she loves me, that I’m her everything.

“But don’t get it twisted—our feelings aren’t just Bright of Engage forcing us. We fell for you first, and then it amplified those feelings.”

“Yeah, don’t misunderstand. We loved you from the heart, and Bright of Engage just cranked it up.”

Their passion hit like a wildfire.

Not the familial love I get from Mom—this was romantic, and it left me flustered, pathetic as that sounds.

But their talk wasn’t done. The real meat of Bright of Engage was coming up.

“Here’s the main point.”

“Go on.”

Lilith nodded, Selen settling back to listen again.

“Like I said, Bright of Engage creates intense feelings. It binds your fate to theirs, makes you want to give everything and love them more… but what happens if that person dies? What do you imagine, Towa-san?”

“…I… can’t picture it.”

Lilith gave a sad smile, like it was only natural, and explained the terrifying side effect of Bright of Engage.

“Losing the one who’s your everything… it carves unbearable grief and pain into your heart. Selen-san and I knew about Bright of Engage and its side effects, but never thought we’d experience it. After you died, Towa-san, if Lilina-san and Arios hadn’t stopped me, I would’ve followed you.”

“…It’s that bad?”

“It is. The pain and grief shatter your heart… I couldn’t accept that you were gone. I called your name over and over, and the silence that answered broke us even more.”

No words left.

Even with that kind of pain tearing at their hearts, they’re still here, living… Doesn't that mean they’ve recovered?

Lilith spoke up about that too.

“Lilina-san and Arios-san looked out for us… and above all, we had to protect the world you gave your life for. That’s what kept us going, but our wounded hearts never fully healed.”

“Not healed…?”

“Sometimes, I’d see hallucinations, like you were still there, Towa-san.”

“!?”

Seeing hallucinations of me… wait, is that what it was?

The day I met Lilith, she was talking to empty air—could that have been it?

“You saw a bit, right? Me speaking to nothing… I was completely convinced you were there. Deep down, I knew you weren’t, but still.”

Hallucinations… to protect her heart, maybe.

If Lilith’s like this, what about Selen…?

Glanced at her, arms crossed, and she opened up.

“I was researching magic to bring you back. There’s necromancy to raise the dead as undead, but I wanted your complete revival. Alongside my magic tool research, I was obsessed with it.”

“Raising the dead… but isn’t that impossible?”

“Reviving someone perfectly is impossible… but so what? To bring you back, I’d sacrifice every year of my elf life without a second thought.”

Her voice carried unshakable resolve.

Having binged manga, anime, and games, I always thought raising the dead was kinda cool, aspirational even. But in a world where magic’s real, I also knew how taboo it is—how it’s an unreachable abyss of magic.

“…Sorry. Really sorry. I don’t know what to say… my head’s spinning.”

“It’s okay.”

“No big deal.”

They stood, flanking me again.

No tug-of-war this time—just gentle embraces, their softness and sweet scents wrapping around me.

“Don’t make that pained face. Sure, Selen-san and I went through the side effects of Bright of Engage, but it’s alright now.”

“Alright…?”

“This was unexpected, but meeting you again… Towa, our fates reconnected. The bond Bright of Engage broke is whole again, and our shattered hearts are healed.”

“It heals that easily!?”

Couldn’t help raising my voice—how could it be that simple? It’s great if they’re healed, but after hearing their hearts were broken, worrying if they’re really okay feels natural.

Yet, seeing their genuine smiles as they held me, I knew there was nothing to fear.

“So.”

“Exactly.”

“…?”

A chill ran through me.

Their hugs were comforting, really making me want to stay like this forever, but something about their shift in vibe gave me goosebumps… why’s this so scary?

Squished between their chests, I wriggled free, pushing through their softness to pop my head out. They grinned and spoke in unison.

“To never feel that grief again, we want you by our side forever, Towa-san♪”

“Yeah… no way we’re going through that again. So you’re sticking with us, Towa. That way, you’re safe—”

Couldn’t let myself get swept away—I had to say my piece.

“I’m—”

But a commotion outside cut me off.

“What’s that?”

“What’s going on…?”

Their grips loosened as the noise distracted them, and I slipped out.

“Let’s check it out.”

“Hey…”

“Towa, hold up!”

Had a bad feeling—not from Lilith or Selen, but the kind I used to get with the hero party, a gut instinct that something was wrong.

Rushed out of the room, sprinting down the hall toward the institute’s exit.

Passed others running, shouting “what’s happening,” and when I got outside, I saw the cause.

“This…!”

A wyvern—not a dragon—soared in the sky.

Encountered wyverns a few times on our journey, but they rarely fly over a populated place like the capital. Something’s definitely off.

“A wyvern!?”

“What’s it doing here?”

Lilith and Selen were just as shocked.

One wyvern’s no big deal—nothing to panic about. Even without them, the kingdom’s knights could handle it.

But since this isn’t normal, the crowd was freaking out, and the wyvern’s eyes locked onto the chaos—specifically, a little boy, maybe separated from his parents, crying on his butt.

“Figures my gut’s right… Lilith! Selen!”

Forgot I’m a kid now, calling their names like back in the day.

“Got it!”

“On it!”

The wyvern, red scales glinting, swooped down toward the boy.

Already moving, I reached him faster. He looked about five years old. Scooped him up, shielding him.

“Who…?”

“You’re safe now. Don’t worry.”

Not like I can do much, though.

No fear facing the wyvern—my past life’s battles toughened me up—but more than that, it’s Lilith and Selen at my back, guarding us both.

Wyverns aren’t dumb, but this one didn’t sense the power gap, charging with its jaws wide open.

Expected Lilith and Selen’s magic to torch it, but things took an unexpected turn.

“…Huh?”

The wyvern’s body split in half midair.

Not top and bottom—sliced vertically from head to waist.

What just happened…? As the crowd stared, stunned, the culprit appeared beyond the bisected wyvern.

“Mom…?”

Wielding a crimson scythe, floating in the air, there was Mom.

Her icy aura was unlike anything I’d seen, descending as if walking invisible stairs.

She looked like a queen descending.

“How dare a beast like you bare its fangs at my beloved son. Pay with your life.”

Her eyes glowed red as she spoke.

For a moment, the world seemed dyed crimson… and before I knew it, I was in Mom’s arms.

“Towa, are you hurt?”

“N-No… thanks, Mom.”

Her terrifying aura vanished, replaced by a warm smile.

“Is that…?”

“Towa’s Mom?”

Lilith and Selen, naturally curious, spoke up. Mom’s eyes widened, and she turned to them.

“The hero’s companions… Alright, Towa—what were you doing? Care to explain?”

No pressure in her voice, but I nodded, realizing the moment had come to reveal the truth I’d kept hidden for years.
