This work was selected for publication following the 9th Kakuyomu Web Novel Contest, thanks to the generous support of many readers. The first light novel I ever read was Hiroshi Yoshioka’s The Most Irresponsible Man in the Universe series, and I could never have imagined, decades later, that I would make my debut with Fujimi Fantasia Bunko. I can’t help but want to go back and tell my younger self, “You’re going to debut with Fujimi Fantasia Bunko!”
Now, is it safe to share some behind-the-scenes details? I was thrilled when I received the award notification from Kakuyomu, but during our first meeting, my editor, Mr. Kobayashi, told me, “It’s too sensitive to publish as is.” My jaw dropped. Despite that, this work has now seen the light of day thanks to Mr. Kobayashi’s tireless efforts, for which I am endlessly grateful. Additionally, the illustrations for this work were handled by the talented On-sensei. The moment I saw the artwork from Mr. Kobayashi, I was floored. “This is perfect!” I thought. “On-sensei, have you peeked inside my mind?” The illustrations brought my vision to life in the most ideal way.
Speaking of gratitude, I must also thank the novelist YouTuber, H-sensei, and the listeners of their channel, who provided invaluable advice during the writing of this work. Likewise, W-sensei taught me the fundamentals of novel writing. Without their guidance and the support of their communities, I doubt I would have achieved this award.
To my editor, Mr. Kobayashi, the illustrator, On-sensei, the proofreaders, the printing staff, and everyone else involved, I am deeply grateful for your support in bringing this book to publication. Thank you all so much.
