Greetings, or perhaps it’s been a while—Amane Megumi here.
Thank you so much for picking up The School Princess Who Secretly Shows Her Shy Side Only to Me.
This work is a romantic comedy that begins when the protagonist accidentally discovers the secret of the class’s princess-like heroine. I hope you enjoy the contrast of seeing a girl you’re used to watching in the classroom transform into someone entirely different through the lens of a camera.
For the sake of research, I actually attended a cosplay photographer’s event with my smartphone in hand to snap pictures of my favorite cosplayer. It was purely for research, nothing more, I swear—please believe me!
That aside, experiencing photography firsthand was eye-opening. Amid a crowd of photographers, locking eyes with the subject through the lens and receiving a smile sent chills down my spine. It was, without exaggeration, a sensation I’d never felt before. It really drives home how important it is to experience things for yourself.
Now, this might be a massive spoiler, but there’s no bath scene in this book. Well, strictly speaking, there’s a scene where a character is showering in a competitive swimsuit, which has its own thrilling sense of forbidden charm that I quite like (laughs).
Now, for some words of gratitude.
To my editor, S-san, thank you for your patient support throughout the publication process. When you said, “It’s a bit too spicy… (wry smile),” I was worried about how things would turn out, but I’m so glad you understood the appeal of the competitive swimsuit shower scene.
To the illustrator, Yukimiya Yuge-sensei, thank you for taking on this project despite your busy schedule! When we received the cover illustration candidates, my editor and I were beyond excited, and choosing one was no easy task. Not only Rinoa, but also Yuzuha and Alice were drawn so adorably in the frontispieces and inserts—I have nothing but gratitude.
And to you, the readers—whether this is your first time reading one of my works or you’ve been following me since my previous titles, I’m deeply grateful to you all. It’s because of you that I’m able to keep writing.
