Chapter 5: I Got Invited to an Adventure Date by a Gyaru
After descending the mountain, it was nearly dawn by the time the carriage brought us back to the Hero Training School.
Parting ways with Lilia-san and the others, I entered my room in the Men’s Dormitory and immediately collapsed onto the bed. There were no classes today, and I didn’t need to worry about waking up at a specific time, so I could sleep without a care in the world.
──But no sooner had I drifted off than someone pounded on the door with reckless abandon.
Opening my eyes, I saw the room was still dimly lit. It seemed like just after sunrise.
Rubbing my sleepy eyes, I opened the door to find none other than Fiona-san standing there.
“Whoo-hoo! Couldn’t sleep, so I came to see ya!” Fiona-san flashed a smile as bright as the sun, practically shouting her greeting.
“C’mon, you promised to make it up to me with your body, right? We’re going out, so get ready in thirty seconds!”
I almost let a complaint slip, but I remembered I wasn’t exactly in a position to argue, so I grabbed my sword.
“Ready.”
“Fast! Leon-cchi, you’re hilarious! Most people would look way more freaked out if someone showed up at their door this early!”
“So you’re aware you’re being a nuisance…?”
“Huh? Was I a nuisance?”
“Not at all. My mistake.”
“Right? Even if I was a nuisance, my temp boyfriend wouldn’t say something like that, would he?”
“…”
Apparently, a temp boyfriend wasn’t allowed to voice his true thoughts. I’d better keep that in mind.
“So, where are we going now?”
“A hiking date. I want you to come with me to this mountain I always go to.”
“Got it.”
I’d heard of hiking dates before. A guy and a girl help each other climb a mountain, fighting off any monsters together to deepen their bond.
“Alrighty, first we gotta gear up!”
With that, Fiona-san led me off somewhere.
We arrived at a warehouse on school grounds.
It seemed to be stocked with everything an adventurer could need: weapons, armor, medicinal herbs, poisonous plants, food, fuel, and more.
“Ta-da! Students can take whatever they want from here, free of charge!”
“That’s pretty generous.”
“But you can only take what you’ll use yourself. If they catch you reselling, you’re expelled.”
“Are there really people at the Hero Training School who’d try to resell this stuff?”
“Oh, totally. Every world’s got its share of lowlifes.”
As we chatted, we grabbed some portable food—dried meat, cheese, dried fruit, and the like. My hiking gear from yesterday would probably do just fine.
After stuffing various items into my bag, Fiona-san handed me some snacks—potato chips, gummies, and more—saying, “Put these in your bag, Leon-cchi!”
“Where’d these snacks come from?”
“Brought ’em from my room! I’ve got a ton in stock!”
Seeing Fiona-san’s carefree grin, I started to get excited.
After all, I was about to head out on my very first date.

With our preparations complete, we took a carriage to the foot of the rocky mountain that was our destination.
As we jostled along in the back of the carriage, I asked Fiona-san, who was sitting beside me, a question.
“By the way, how far is it to the mountain?”
“’Bout five kilometers, I guess.”
“That’s pretty far. There are closer mountains, aren’t there?”
“I’ve got my reasons.”
For some reason, Fiona-san’s response was curt.
“Is there something special about that mountain?”
“It’s a secret. You’ll find out when we get there.”
“Is there something unique to that mountain?”
“I said it’s a secret!”
“C’mon, it’s making me curious. Give me a hint!”
“Shut up already! Just sit there and behave!”
Fiona-san suddenly snapped.
In that moment, a jolt ran through my entire body.
“…Hey, why’re you grinning like that?”
“No reason. Also, sorry. I got a bit carried away with the whole ‘hiking date’ thing.”
“Ugh. Know your place, will ya?”
“My place… I’m pretty sure I’m your temp boyfriend, though.”
“As my temp boyfriend, you’re supposed to obey me absolutely!”
“That’s not how I thought relationships worked…”
But looking at Fiona-san’s angry face, I couldn’t help but think that having a girlfriend like her would be pretty amazing.

After about an hour, we reached our destination and immediately began the climb.
“Let’s roll! Follow me, Leon-cchi!”
Her mood apparently restored, Fiona-san dashed off with a cheerful grin.
“—Oh! There’s a flower I’ve never seen before! Might be a new species!”
After climbing a slope for a while, Fiona-san shouted. She was pointing at the top of a sheer cliff that had to be at least thirty meters high.
“Leon-cchi, go pick it!”
“Understood. One moment.”
Not having the option to refuse, I scaled the cliff with rock-climbing techniques and successfully retrieved the flower.
“Awesome! You’re the real deal, Leon-cchi!”
Fiona-san let out a cheer and snapped a commemorative photo.
Once she seemed satisfied, I tucked the flower into my bag, and we continued onward.
“—Oh! A super rare slime! First time I’ve seen a silver one! Gotta snap a pic!”
Fiona-san suddenly bolted toward a silver slime, camera at the ready.
She’d chewed me out something fierce in the carriage, and I’d been nervous about what she’d make me do on this mountain, but seeing her so happy put me at ease.
“You really love taking photos, don’t you, Fiona-san?”
“Yup! Totally love it!”
“Then why enroll at the Hero Training School? Wouldn’t you be better off aiming to be a photographer?”
“It’s not just about scenery. I wanna take tons of pictures of monsters too. Gotta get strong for that, right? Normal people are too scared of monsters to leave their villages, y’know? So I wanna snap pics of all kinds of monsters and scenery and show ’em to everyone!”
“I see…!”
So Fiona-san didn’t just want to take photos—she had a real dream of bringing joy to others.
“I’d love to see the photos you’ve taken sometime.”
I said it casually as she finished photographing the slime, but she looked surprised.
“You’re not gonna criticize me for carrying a camera, Leon-cchi?”
“Criticize? Why would I?”
Her question was so unexpected that I had to ask back. Fiona-san pursed her lips.
“I get it a lot, y’know. ‘A hero candidate obsessed with taking photos is weird,’ or ‘You’ll get killed by a monster if you’re just playing around.’”
“Ah, I get it.”
To be fair, if a teammate started snapping photos in the middle of a dragon fight, I might think, Now’s not the time.
“I can understand why some people might feel that way. But at the very least, I don’t think you’re just playing around, Fiona-san. I think you’re serious about both being a hero and your photography.”
“…Really? …Thanks, Leon-cchi.”
Fiona-san mumbled, then gave a shy smile.

Despite many detours, we gradually neared the summit.
But at a certain point, Fiona-san suddenly veered off the trail.
“Fiona-san? Did you find something else?”
When I asked, she turned back, speaking in an unusually serious tone.
“Listen, Leon-cchi. I’m taking you to my secret spot now, but you gotta promise me one thing. No matter what happens, this place stays our little secret. Got it?”
“Got it.”
“If you tell anyone, I’ll hate you forever. I’ll slip you some drugs, tie you up while you’re out, and interrogate you. I’ll peel off your fingernails one by one, break every tooth, and then…”
“Could you not make such detailed plans before I’ve even seen the secret?”
I said it with a shiver, imagining being tied up by Fiona-san.
After straying from the trail for a bit, Fiona-san stopped abruptly.
“—This is the secret spot. And what I need your help with is that.”
The moment I saw where she was pointing, everything clicked.
Before us stood an unmistakable structure, stones neatly stacked in a formation.
It was an entrance to an underground space. Stone steps descended into the darkness.
“…Is that a 【Labyrinth】?”
“Yup. I found it.”
Fiona-san puffed out her chest, answering proudly.
A 【Labyrinth】 was a structure believed to be created by the Demon Lord’s forces. Their origins and purpose were completely unknown, but they were inhabited by monsters and typically rigged with traps designed for humans.
And it was said that at the heart of an unexplored 【Labyrinth】, treasures dazzling enough to blind you often awaited.
Now I understood why Fiona-san had been so tight-lipped about what we’d be doing on this mountain. Discovering a 【Labyrinth】 required immediate reporting to the kingdom.
In other words, this was illegal. If we got caught, we’d be arrested. That’s why she couldn’t let Lilia-san or the coachman know.
“So, wanna dive in?”
“That’s way too casual!”
I mean, this was way too reckless.
A 【Labyrinth】 was typically tackled by a large party of adults, fully equipped with supplies and food, over months or even years.
“I’m begging you, let’s report this 【Labyrinth】 to the kingdom.”
“If we do that, we won’t get the treasure!”
“Well, yeah, but…”
“What? You’re a peeping perv, and you’re talking back?”
“It’s not talking back, it’s a suggestion…”
“I’ll tell the whole class you peeped on our bath! And I’ve got photos of you half-naked and tied to a tree—”
“Let’s at least check if we can tackle it with just the two of us!”
I’d completely forgotten. Even if I was being dragged into a crime, I didn’t have the right to refuse.

Descending the stairs, we found the 【Labyrinth】’s interior surprisingly bright. Glowing stones were embedded in the walls at intervals.
“I’ve actually snuck in here alone a few times before. But there were too many monsters, so I could only get so far.”
“So that’s why you set your sights on me?”
“Yup. If you can take down a dragon, this’ll be a breeze, right?”
“I’m not so sure…”
The 【Labyrinth】’s passages were dim, with plenty of blind spots, making it hard to spot enemies. If we encountered a monster smart enough to ambush us, we could be wiped out in an instant.
But Fiona-san pressed forward into the depths, humming a tune.
I gripped my sword, staying close as we explored.
──In an instant, I heard the sound of slicing air and saw something hurtling toward Fiona-san.
Reflexively, I struck it down with an iaido slash.
It was a wooden arrow.
“Whoa! Nice one, Leon-cchi!”
“This is no time to laugh! Your life was just in danger!”
“But I already knew arrows fly out in this spot.”
“Then tell me in advance!”
“Wanted to see if you could handle it. If you couldn’t deal with that, I was gonna give up on exploring the 【Labyrinth】.”
Fiona-san said it like it was nothing. Apparently, she was confident she could’ve dodged it if I hadn’t stopped it.
“You were testing me?”
“Yup. And my gut was right.”
Fiona-san grinned smugly.
“By the way, a big boulder’s gonna roll our way soon, so watch out.”
“How do we dodge it?”
“Clinging to the ceiling’s probably your best bet.”
True to her word, Fiona-san pressed on fearlessly.
And just as she’d warned, a massive boulder came rolling toward us, so we scrambled up the walls to the ceiling to escape.
“Aren’t you scared of dying, Fiona-san?”
I asked as we continued through the 【Labyrinth】, staying vigilant.
“Of course I’m scared, but I want that treasure, y’know? Plus, I’ve wandered around the first floor enough to know most of the traps. And even if something happens, I trust you’ll totally protect me, Leon-cchi.”
“That’s an awful lot of faith in me.”
We’d known each other for less than twenty-four hours…
As I marveled at Fiona-san’s guts, we encountered our first monster in the 【Labyrinth】. It was an undead—a moving skeleton draped in black robes.
“Leon-cchi, take it out.”
The moment she gave the order, I sprang forward. Swinging my sword, I shattered the bones.
Kicking through the undead, we found a staircase leading to the second floor.
“Everything past here is uncharted territory for me. Couldn’t get past the undead.”
“Just to be clear, is turning back an option?”
“No way, duh!”
“But there’s no guarantee we’ll be safe.”
“You’re my temp boyfriend, so be my shield and die for me if you have to.”
“That’s harsh.”
“Alright, let’s go! Whoo-hoo!”
Fiona-san let out a wild cheer and skipped down the stairs.
──The next moment, the ground beneath her crumbled. A pitfall trap.
Instinctively, I shot out my right arm and grabbed her uniform.
I pulled her close, managing to get her to cling to the pitfall’s wall.
Below the collapsed floor, countless sharp spikes glinted. Falling would’ve been disastrous.
But then I noticed the ground Fiona-san was gripping was starting to crumble further. I had to pull her up fast.
I desperately yanked her upward.

Fiona-san suddenly shrieked.
A split second later, I realized I was clutching her butt.
The soft sensation in my hand hit me all at once.

“You can yell at me all you want later, but first—”
But as I tried to calm her, gas sprayed from the wall toward us.
With both hands occupied, I couldn’t dodge. We both inhaled it full-on.
If it was poison gas, we were in trouble. I had to get antidote herbs before symptoms kicked in.
Panicking, I pulled Fiona-san up. Toward the end, her body felt strangely heavy—maybe the poison was already sapping my strength.
“Fiona-san, quick… the antidote…”
As I called out to her, I was so shocked that my thoughts froze for a few seconds.
A young woman’s voice had come from my mouth.
And then I noticed that Fiona-san, standing in front of me, was unmistakably a man.
“No way—”

Her tone left no room for argument, so I nodded.

Fiona-san laid out the cold, hard truth. But Sierra-san ignored her, gripping my right arm tighter.
“That’s enough. Leon-chan, we’re going home.”
Sierra-san tried to drag me off somewhere. Home? Where—
“Hey! Don’t take Leon-cchi! We’re in the middle of a date!”
Fiona-san shouted, grabbing my left arm with both hands.
“D-Date…!?”
“Yup.”
For some reason, Fiona-san smirked triumphantly at Sierra-san’s wide-eyed shock.
“From now on, Leon-cchi’s gonna fall for me. It’s for his own good, too.”
“I don’t understand!! What’s that supposed to mean!?”
“Well, it’s like—”
“Uh, Fiona-san, I’d really prefer you keep that part a secret…”
“C’mon, it’s fine. Prez won’t let it go unless she hears the details.”
“B-But—”
“Leon-chan? Are you being a naughty boy, keeping secrets from your mama?”
Sierra-san loomed over me with a terrifying glare.
“Then we’ll have to tie up your hands and feet so no more secrets happen, and stay together 24/7, 365 days a year, won’t we? Come on, Leon-chan.”
“I’ll explain right now!”
And so, I ended up spilling the beans. I explained that Fiona-san was trying to make me fall for her to keep me from being charmed by 【Monster Girls】.
I thought I’d be scorned for it, but contrary to my expectations, Sierra-san’s face lit up with a smile.
“So that’s what’s going on… Of course, Leon-chan’s a pure little baby with no experience with women. It’s only natural he can’t tell good women from bad ones.”
Nodding repeatedly, Sierra-san seemed to take it not as pathetic weakness to 【Monster Girls】, but as proof of my untainted innocence. Her open-mindedness was a relief.

Urged on by Sierra-san’s smiling face, I started talking.
“Uh, during the 【Survival Training】, I got paralyzed by a mandragora, and Sierra-san took really good care of me… And somehow, we ended up with this mama-and-baby thing.”
“Don’t just gloss over the important part with ‘somehow’!”
Fiona-san pouted, clearly dissatisfied, but I couldn’t explain any further, so there was nothing for it.
“I don’t totally get it, but does that mean everyone you take care of becomes your baby, Prez?”
“No. Leon-chan is special.”

Sierra-san roared with full force.
“And of course, I won’t allow you to date Leon-chan!! He’s my baby forever!!”

“It’s no use. As his mama, I’ll follow him anywhere.”
Sierra-san tightened her grip on my arm.
“No way around it, huh? How ’bout we compromise and hang out as a trio today?”
“No way. If Leon-chan gets bad influences from a delinquent, we’ll be in trouble.”
Sierra-san flat-out refused. There was no sign of getting through to her.
“Leon-cchi, what do we do? You made a promise with me for today, right?”
“Yeah…”
After hesitating, I turned to Sierra-san and bowed.
“Sorry. I promised to go on a date with Fiona-san today, so I can’t go with you.”

Crawling on all fours, Sierra-san trembled all over.

Fiona-san leaned forward, offering her crepe.
I braced for another fight, but Sierra-san silently took a bite.
“…It’s sweet and delicious.”

After that, we decided to shop together to aim for a full reconciliation between Sierra-san and Fiona-san.
“—Oh! I totally wanna check out some clothes!”
As we walked down the alley, Fiona-san shouted, spotting a large armor shop.
“Then I’ll pick out an outfit for Leon-chan as a present.”
“Whoa! Then I wanna style Leon-cchi too!”
“Don’t copy me. Why don’t you just buy clothes for yourself, Fiona-san?”
“I was gonna look at my own stuff, then pick something for Leon-cchi!”
“So Leon-chan’s an afterthought? How selfish.”
“You don’t gotta be that harsh!”
Thirty seconds into shopping, and they were already glaring at each other.
“Both of you, please don’t fight…”
People nearby were staring at us curiously. Being fought over by two beautiful girls was kind of fun, but I didn’t want to see them bickering.
“I’ll wear whatever you both pick out.”
“Then let’s make it a contest to see who can find the outfit that suits Leon-cchi best!”
“Bring it on!”
“Uh…”
And with that, Sierra-san and Fiona-san charged into the armor shop.
Left behind, I was so anxious I wanted to bolt. Staying here meant I’d have to choose between the clothes they picked, and…
But while I was dithering outside the shop, they came back.
“Leon-chan! They had a bib and a pacifier!”
“Leon-cchi! I found a string bikini for you to try on! It probably won’t cover anything!”
“Are you both trying to lose?”
What kind of inventory does this armor shop even have…!?
I had to politely decline both. At the very least, they could pick something a normal guy wouldn’t look weird wearing, like a collar or something.
“Now that I think about it, I’ve never picked out clothes for a guy, so I’m kinda clueless.”
“I only know about baby clothes.”
She’s an expert on baby clothes…? That’s a dark vibe…
“Oh! Leon-chan, will you help pick out Mama’s gear?”
The moment she suggested it, my gloomy mood vanished.
Me, picking out clothes for Sierra-san to wear…!? Is such a fun event even allowed…!?
“Hey! Don’t try to seduce Leon-cchi! If you’re picking, then pick something for me too!”
“Fiona-san too…!?”
What is this perfect scenario…!!
With my heart soaring, I headed to the women’s gear section.
The area was lined with various armors made of cloth, leather, bronze, and iron.
Speed-focused armors were designed to cover as little skin as possible for mobility. Defensive armors, on the other hand, covered the entire body.
“What kind of outfit do you want Mama to wear, Leon-chan?”
Sierra-san asked with pure, innocent eyes.
This was a tough one to answer.
Obviously, I wanted her in something revealing, but saying that outright would expose my ulterior motives.
“…Well, Sierra-san, you’re not exactly super muscular, and you’re more of a speed type, right?”
“Yup. I don’t think I’d be a tank, at least.”
“Then to play to your strengths, lighter armor would be better.”
“Got it. You want to see Mama fight coolly, huh?”
“Yeah! So I was thinking something like this…”
“Alright!”
Sierra-san grabbed the leather armor I pointed to with a smile and headed to the fitting room. It was an outfit that only covered the chest and lower abdomen, barely different from underwear in terms of surface area.
I’d successfully steered her in the right direction.
“…You’re such a perv, Leon-cchi.”
Fiona-san shot me a deadpan look as I stared intently at the fitting room curtain.
“I’m kinda reluctant, but since it’s what you want… I’ll wear something revealing too, just for you.”
Grumbling, Fiona-san grabbed a leather armor and went into the fitting room next door.
My chest swelled with anticipation, and almost simultaneously, both fitting room curtains opened.
There stood Sierra-san and Fiona-san, their outfits barely covering their skin.
Both had perfect proportions, and my gaze darted back and forth at lightning speed.
“Leon-chan, what do you think? Is Mama cute?”
“Yeah… unbelievably cute…”
Answering in a dreamlike daze, I saw Sierra-san give a satisfied smile.
Noticing this, Fiona-san pursed her lips.
“So, Leon-cchi? I’m pretty hot, right?”
“Obviously!”
My instant reply made Sierra-san puff out her cheeks in dissatisfaction.
“Leon-chan, Mama’s pretty too, right?”
“Of course!”
“Leon-cchi? I’m not just hot, I’m cute too, right?”
“No question about it!”
“So, between me and Prez, who do you like more?”
“—Huh?”
In that moment, the fun came to a screeching halt.
Their sharp glares pierced right through me.
“What’s up? I’m asking who you like more, me or Prez?”
“…”
I froze, words failing me. Both were too cute and too beautiful to compare.
“…Uh… to me, it’s like a total tie vibe…”
At my vague response, both furrowed their brows in unison. Then they closed in on me simultaneously.
“Leon-chan? Mama loves you so much, you know?”
“You haven’t forgotten you committed major sins yesterday and today, right, Leon-cchi?”
The pressure from both sides was overwhelming. Choosing one would lead to who-knows-what kind of trouble.
“Leon-chan! Say Mama’s the cutest!”
“You better think I’m the hottest, or I won’t forgive you!”
And so, my freedom of speech and thought was stripped away.
