Afterword
Dear readers, it has been a while.
Thanks to a glass-noodle diet, I successfully lost five kilograms.
I am your author, Leonard D, eternally afflicted with chuunibyou.
First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the readers who picked up this book, our illustrator, ye_jji, and everyone who lent their support to make this publication possible.
My career as an author will soon be entering its seventh year.
With the total number of my published books expected to reach twenty this fiscal year, I've finally gained the confidence that I can truly make a living as a writer.
So much has happened over these past six years.
There were times when book sales stagnated due to the pandemic, times when I suffered from sleep deprivation while juggling two jobs, and that time I blew two hundred thousand yen on FX trading (which was entirely my own fault).
Forget a simple road of ups and downs—there were quagmires, deserts, dense jungles, and every once in a while, a cozy teahouse resting at a mountain pass.
Though my writing life has seen both joyful moments and painful trials, I've come to believe that sticking with it all this time wasn't a mistake.
I will continue to pour my body and soul into writing with everything I have, so I humbly prostrate myself before you and pray for your continued support.
Please be advised that the following section contains spoilers for the main story.
Starting in this volume, Rest and the heroine sisters have enrolled in the Royal Academy.
Meeting numerous classmates, upperclassmen, and teachers, they've officially kicked off their new lives.
With Celestine (+ α) making her grand entrance as a new heroine alongside Viola, Primula, and Yuri, Rest's daily life has become delightfully colorful once again.
Celestine happens to be a personal favorite character of mine, so I significantly expanded her role for the light novel release.
Going to the batting cages together, hitting the sauna, saving her when she gets attacked by ruffians... Adding scenes that weren't present in the web version to depict her deepening relationship with Rest was an absolute blast.
In particular, the batting cage scene gave me the opportunity to illustrate just how much stress she had been bottling up due to the constant grief caused by her fiancé.
No matter how polite and well-mannered a highborn young lady might be, everyone has their breaking point, so I'm glad I could provide Celestine with an outlet to blow off some steam.
On the flip side, we saw the entrance of a brand-new adversary: that foolish prince, Rodel.
A mastermind-like figure pulling strings in the background made an appearance as well, leaving the conclusion with a distinctly ominous air. Just what sort of villainy are they planning to commit next?
Although Rest earned a noble title after slaying the formidable demon beast Subnock, I'm certain he will continue to be swept up in all kinds of chaotic trouble.
Even as the author, I feel a detached sort of sympathy thinking, Poor guy, but since he's surrounded by four beautiful girls, my actual thoughts are more along the lines of, Hang in there, You can handle at least that much, Move over and let me swap places with you, or rather, Just explode already!
Nothing would bring me greater joy than having another opportunity to share their future adventures with you all.
And with that said...
Please continue to lend your generous support to The Infinite Magician!
Praying to every god, Buddha, and devil that the day will come when we meet again.
Leonard D
